CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A strange twist Tuesday in the case of a bartender beating caught on tape.
A jury awarded bartender Karolina Obrycka $850,000 in damages, saying a code of silence in the police department protected officer Anthony Abbate in the beating.
Now, Mayor Emanuel is asking a federal judge to set that verdict aside While leaving the $850,000 for the bartender.
Officials don't want lawyers using the "code of silence" verdict in any future lawsuits against the Chicago Police Department.
The city and the bartender filed the motion together in court Monday.
