Speed camera tests begin in Chicago Monday

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Starting Monday, the city of Chicago will begin testing the controversial speed cameras outside four schools, and parks.

Those locations include Warren Park, near North Montessori School, McKinley Park, and outside Dulles Elementary.

Over the next month, drivers will get warnings at the testing locations. After that police will start writing tickets.

Mayor Emanuel claims the cameras will save lives.

They'll eventually spread to 40 locations.

Critics say there are already plenty of safety precautions in place near the schools and parks. They claim this is just another way for the city to generate money.
