1 dead, 5 wounded in Fuller Park shootings

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

At least six people were shot Friday night — one fatally — in the South Side Fuller Park neighborhood, authorities said.

Two men were shot about 6:07 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 51st Street, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said, citing preliminary information.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the hand, leg, side and buttocks, Zala said, and another 19-year-old man was shot in the back.

Both were taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to Fire Media Affairs.

A few minutes later, about 6:21 p.m., four people were shot — one fatally — in the 4200 block of South Wells Street, according to Fire Media Affairs.

A 38-year-old man was shot in the neck and listed in critical condition at Stroger, Zala said. A 32-year-old man was shot in the stomach and in "stable" condition at Stroger, Zala said, and a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg and in "stable" condition at Mercy Hospital. A 30-year-old man was shot in the head, Zala said, but his condition was not immediately available.

Fire Media Affairs said one of the men was "dead on arrival," but it was not immediately clear which on the men died.
