Field of candidates grows in race for 2nd Congressional District

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The field of candidates is growing in the race to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in the second congressional district.

State Senator Toi Hutchinson and Ninth Ward Alderman Anthony Beale both announced their plans Thursday to run in the special election.

Former Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson and former U.S. Representative Mel Reynolds both previously announced their candidacies.

Jackson resigned last week in the wake of an investigation into the alleged misuse of his campaign funds.
