Police find 2 sisters who disappeared after leaving school

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two sisters who disappeared after they left school on Wednesday on the Southwest Side have been found, police said.

Ariyell "Penny" Bowman, 7, and her sister Erica Davis, 14, were discovered at the home of an extended family member Thursday morning by Area Central detectives and police from the city's Chicago Lawn District, according to a statement from police News Affairs.

The girls were "safe and sound" and will be reunited with their parents later Thursday, the statement said.

The girls went missing after they left Fairfield Elementary Academy, 6201 S. Fairfield Ave., at 2:45 p.m., according to a missing persons alert.
