CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about the health and medical news we get every day. There seems to be a constant stream of new studies telling us what's good and bad for us, but the report that's in the news tonight is one I've been waiting for. It's a new study on running that says if you jog more than 15 miles a week, it's not making you any healthier.
Like many of you, I run a few miles now and then and love the feeling when you're done, but force myself to endure the pain of the exercise because of the health benefits.
Well, if you're over 50 there may not be any. According to an article to be published next month in the British journal "Heart," running too fast, too far, and for too many years can take a toll on the heart that essentially eliminates the benefits of exercise. The new report studied more than 50,000 people over a 30 year period and concluded that chronic extreme exercise appears to cause excessive wear and tear on the heart.
Finally, a great excuse to switch to walking. Now, if only we could get some research showing the positive health effects of eating Hostess products.
