A series of residential burglaries have police on alert in northwest suburban Schaumburg, where three burglaries and two attempted burglaries of homes within a three-block area have occurred in recent days.
The crimes occurred between Nov. 22-26, a community alert said. In four cases, entry was made or attempted by kicking in a door. The other home was entered through an unlocked window.
All five homes were on Weathersfield Way between Walnut Lane and Roselle Road.
Schaumburg Police remind residents to call 911 if they see suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity.
Most residential burglaries took place during the day or early evening when nobody is home. The suspect may ring the doorbell several times and if someone answers, will claim to be at the wrong home.
Police also suggest locking windows and doors, keeping garage doors closed, having trees and bushes trimmed to avoid areas of concealment, and using external lights with motion-activated sensors.
