GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WJBK) -- A top prospect for the Detroit Red Wings faces possible deportation after he reportedly gave police a false identification during his DUI arrest in Grand Rapids last month.
MLive.com reports 2010 first-round pick Riley Sheahan had a blood-alcohol content of 0.30, more than three times Michigan's legal limit, when he was arrested on "super drunk" charges Oct. 29. The 20-year-old St. Catharines, Ontario native was pulled over after driving his Jeep Wrangler the wrong way down Ottawa Ave. Reports say he was wearing a 'Tinky Winky' costume from the children's television show "Teletubbies" at the time of his arrest.
Sheahan reportedly gave police fellow Red Wings prospect and Grand Rapids Griffins teammate Brendan Smith's ID during questioning. According to the arrest report obtained by MLive, deputies eventually found Sheahan's Canadian license in his wallet.
Sheahan pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court Dec. 13. If convicted faces up to 180 days in jail if convicted and possible deportation.
