TROY, Mich. (WJBK) -- A 52-year-old Madison Heights woman was hit and killed in Troy. The 68-year-old driver says she had no idea she'd hit anyone. But, the victim was dragged nearly 40 feet.

Sadly, the victim's sons witnessed the entire ordeal. Their mother was trapped underneath the car, but they couldn't lift it off of her. Family members were in tears in the parking lot of Atlas market and bakery. For more than an hour, Troy police gathered evidence at the scene.
Police believe the driver of the red car was backing out of a parking spot when she ran into the Madison heights woman as she was crossing the lot to return to her own car.
The driver was not hurt in the accident but she suffers from a heart condition so EMS transported her to the hospital to be checked out. It will be up to the Oakland County prosecutor's office to determine if any charges will be filed.
