One more thing, about Congressman Jackson.
Right now he's not guilty of anything, except bad judgment, including disappearing from his constituents, and shunning his responsibility as a public servant by not answering questions from the public for the better part of a year.
When voters re-elected Jesse Jackson Jr. despite the fact that he did not even campaign, it wasn't so much a vote of confidence for the congressman as it was another embarrassing episode in Illinois politics. And so the smart, likeable, engaging young Jackson, who accomplished some good things for the South Side, may not have been so smart after all.
Too bad he didn't do stop by the newsroom like he told me he would after the March primary.
Hiding just makes things worse. What a shame for him. What a shame for Illinois.
