CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two police officers from south suburban Markham -- including the son of the village's mayor -- have been charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a local business owner.

Darryl Starks, 38 and Andre Webb, 41, both full-time police officers for the City of Markham, were each charged with armed violence (Class X felony), theft of property over $300 (Class 3 felony) and official misconduct (Class 3 felony) for allegedly stealing cash from a warehouse in Dolton, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

Both were charged as a result of a joint investigation by the state's attorney's office, FBI and Illinois State Police. The alleged crimes took place while the officers were acting in an official capacity during a police investigation in 2010, prosecutors said.

Webb is the son of Markham Mayor David Webb, Jr., according to the state's attorney's office.
