CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The Antioch community mourned the loss of a 50-year-old man and his 14-year-old daughter Monday, after their small plane crashed in Wisconsin on Sunday.
Todd A. Parfitt, 50, and his daughter Nicole, 14, were killed in the crash. The plane went down in Burlington, Wis., which is about 30 miles west of Kenosha and 20 miles north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
Officials said they were thrown from the 1972 Grumman Model AA-1B plane when it crashed around 1:30 p.m. Authorities believe the pilot tried to land at Burlington Municipal Airport, a small two-runway facility on the northwest outskirts of the city. The plane was found in a corn field, and will be inspected by aviation investigators.
News of the Parfitts' deaths spread throughout the north suburban community of Antioch Sunday afternoon.
Friends created a Facebook page in honor of the Parfitts, and Antioch Community High School students wore Nicole's favorite color – purple – to remember her. One of Nicole's friends posted a video on YouTube in honor of the Antioch Community High School dance team member.

Antioch's principal described her as a delightful girl who works very hard. The freshman had made a positive impact on her school community, especially as part of the school's dance team.
A family spokesperson says Todd Parfitt was an experienced pilot and a former member of the army rserves.
The school made an announcement about the loss at the beginning of classes on Monday. Counselors shadowed students who were in Nicole's classes, to keep an eye out for those having a hard time.
It is unclear why the plane crashed or where the two were headed on Sunday, but the NTSB and FAA continue to investigate.
