Elderly man dead, woman critically injured in Lincoln Square

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

An 86-year-old man is dead and a woman was critically injured after being struck by a SUV Friday in the North Side Lincoln Square neighborhood.

The man and a 78-year-old woman were crossing the street at 6:40 p.m. in the 5000 block of North Western Avenue when they were struck by a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The man was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead and the woman was in critical condition at Saint Francis, Greer said.

The driver, Nikola Stojnic, 74, of the 6000 block of North Talman Avenue, was cited for striking a pedestrian in the roadway.
