Rep. Gutierrez: Petraeus was very humble, apologetic behind closed doors

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Congressman Luis Gutierrez, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, was inside the Petraeus hearing this morning.

"It was a very difficult and I'm sure excrutiating experience for General Petraeus this morning," Gutierrez recalls. "Fortunately, it was private, behind closed doors. He was very humble and very apologetic, and apologized because I think he really wants to serve the nation."

He also said UN Ambassador Susan Rice didn't mislead the country on the Benghazi attacks. Gutierrez says Rice simply repeated the talking points given to her by U.S. Intelligence officials, and she wasn't allowed to publicly disclose classified information.

Gutierrez said he has no doubt, given President Obama's record, justice will be brought to the people who killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya.
