Evanston, Skokie delivery men robbed by similar suspects

SKOKIE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A day after a pizza delivery man was robbed at knifepoint in Evanston, another restaurant delivery driver was robbed in neighboring Skokie.

Police are not saying if the same suspects are believed to have committed both robberies, but the descriptions are similar, as is the modus operandi.

About 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Skokie police responded to a 911 call of a robbery in the 8800 block of Ewing Avenue, a release from police said.

Two males approached a Hub's Restaurant delivery man in an apartment lobby, and one pushed the victim from behind and held a hard object against his back, police said. The other suspect removed the victim's wallet, cash, car key and cell phone.

The suspects ran out, and witnesses reported seeing a blue Dodge Neon leaving the area, occupied by three black males.

That's the same description of the suspects who robbed a pizza delivery man in Evanston last Tuesday.

In that robbery, the 26-year-old driver arrived at a building in the 800 block of Case Street about 11:45 p.m., according to Evanston police Cmdr. Jay Parrott.

He had been told to ring the bell in the common area and when he did, he was approached by three males, all with their faces covered and one holding a knife.

They took his wallet, $150 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy 2 cell phone, some keys and two pepperoni pizzas, according to police.

They then ran out of the building, Parrott said.

Skokie police ask that anyone with information on either of the robberies contact them at (847) 982-5958 or leave anonymous information at the Crimes Tip Hotline, (847) 933-8477.
