CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Cook County officials are cutting salaries and benefits for part-time board members.

Moving forward, they will receive a $500 stipend per meeting, with salaries capped at $12,000 a year, plus expenses.

Current annual salaries are more than $30,000 with more than $20,000 in health and pension benefits.

County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said she supports the savings the board will receive from the new policy.
