Soldier Field sod replaced, Gould apologizes for griping

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The sod right around the 40-yard-line at Soldier Field was replaced Thursday, and Bears kicker Robbie Gould said he's sorry for griping about it.

Gould said Wednesday that he was having doubts about staying with the Bears, because the field conditions can be such a mess.

He later issued an apology to the grounds crew, saying he had learned more about the efforts they and the NFL put into taking care of the grounds.

The Bears are expected to update fans Thursday whether quarterback Jay Cutler will play in the Monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cutler took a nasty hit Monday night in the game against Houston, and suffered a concussion.

The Houston linebacker who hit him has since been fined $30,000.
