Food truck owners sue over city ordinance

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some local food truck owners filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the City of Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the owners are challenging an ordinance they say protects restaurants at their expense.

That ordinance mandates that food trucks stay 200 feet away from brick and mortar establishments and install GPS so City Hall can track them.

Lawyers for the food truckers said the ordinance violates due process and search and seizure provisions, as outlined in the Illinois constitution.
