CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Three people, including a firefighter, have been hospitalized following an extra-alarm fire in an Uptown Wednesday morning.
The two-alarm was reported about 9:40 a.m. at 736 W. Buena Ave. In addition, an EMS Plan I response was called, which sent at least five ambulances to the North Side home.
The fire was on the fourth floor of the building, according to Fire Media Affairs, and one rescue was made from that floor.
Two women -- one in good to fair condition and the other in fair to serious condition -- were taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital. A firefighter, who was having trouble breathing, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition as a precaution, according to Fire Media.
The fire was struck out shortly before 10 a.m.
Because of the Fire Department activity, the CTA's No. 135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express and No. 145 Wilson/Michigan Express buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions via Irving Park, Broadway, Montrose and Claremont.
