CTA, union contract talks stall: Report

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Crain's Chicago Business reports talks between the CTA and the two unions representing bus and train workers have hit a dead end.

The two sides have been working for weeks to work out a new contract.

The two sides will meet with an arbitrator on Friday.

If they can't work out a deal, the CTA may take steps to start laying off some workers.

CTA President Forrest Claypool says he will do whatever is necessary to hold down costs and avoid a fare hike for riders.
