RIVER GROVE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police say a father-daughter walk along a busy west suburban street led to the arrest of the child's parents Friday, Pioneer Press is reporting.

George Ramos, 28, of the 2500 block of North 1st Avenue in River Grove was arrested about 4 p.m. in the 2600 block of Thatcher Avenue and charged with endangering the life of a child, resisting arrest and threatening a police officer.

Samantha Scanlon, 26, of the 300 block of South 46th Avenue in Northlake was arrested soon after at the River Grove Police Department and charged with endangering the life of a child.

According to River Grove Police Sgt. Jack Glowinski, the department received a call of someone walking with a small child on Thatcher Avenue. Police went to the area and stopped Ramo.

Glowinski said the police have had contact with Ramos in the past and taken him and his daughter home. Ramos allegedly became upset and threatened offices, he said.

While at the police department, Ramos allegedly refused to get out of the police car and threatened to kill the officers, Glowinski said.

The child's mother was called to pick her daughter up, and allegedly told police that, in the past, Ramos had threatened to kill himself around his children if he didn't get to see them. The pair also have a son.

Glowinski said Scanlon was arrested for placing her daughter in an unhealthy environment, based on Ramos' remarks and past actions.

Ramos is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 14 in Maywood. Scanlon's court date is Dec. 28.
