CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about the election being over. We're ready for a rest from politics now, but already the pundits are starting to speculate about 2016. Will it be Hillary Clinton against Chris Christie? Sometime before that election it would be nice to enact a few reforms based on what we just went through.
How about a ban on all political advertising? TV stations might not make as much money, but candidates wouldn't have to spend millions to run, and we wouldn't be subjected to nonstop negative ads that are usually just thirty seconds of charges and counter-charges.
Let's change the presidential debate format and force them to truly debate the issues by eliminating the moderator. Just put the two candidates in chairs next to each other and tell them to question and argue with each other for 90 minutes. At the very least, it'll be more entertaining.
Do what they do in England. Limit the campaigning. The longest one in British history was six weeks.
Politicians should also learn to act during the campaign, the way they do when they're giving a concession speech---classy, gracious, and conciliatory---if they struck that tone earlier, they might not be conceding.
