CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
It's of little surprise that President Barack Obama won Illinois but that didn't kill the buzz of Mitt Romney supporters in Illinois.
Their party was in full swing Tuesday night at the Wit Hotel where plenty of supporters were on hand. Despite the loss, they're keeping their eyes on the big prize, closely watching the returns come in.
Dan Rutherford, chair of the Romney campaign in Illinois, described it as people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008, not doing so this time around. He calls it a "rustling under the leaves."
"I see it and feel it in Illinois. I've gone all the way from the Wisconsin border to the Kentucky border and there are people that are not happy with the way things are the state of Illinois. Their opportunity is to change the White House right now," Rutherford said. "Then, I looked around the country and there's something going on out there, people just -- they're just not really happy the way things are going and the way to respond to that is of course to help change the presidency."
Rutherford described Romney as the alternative.
Rutherford says if Romney goes on to lose this race, he believes in his opinion as a former businessman himself, the president needs to take a better business-like approach to our economy.
