CICERO, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
An alleged gang member was arrested and charged Tuesday with harassing an election volunteer at polling places in west suburban Cicero.
Alfredo Gonzalez approached a 41-year-old woman distributing "Thank You" cards to voters at the Lincoln School in the 3600 block of South 61st Avenue in Cicero and began "sexually threatening" her Tuesday morning, according to a statement from Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania.
The woman moved to a polling place at the Freshman Center in the 1800 block of South 55th Avenue in Cicero to get away from Gonzalez, who allegedly confronted her again, this time with a known Latin King street gang leader and four other males, Hanania said.
The group surrounded the woman and made "sexual gestures," Hanania said. The group got angry when the woman challenged them, and Gonzalez allegedly unzipped his pants and made "disgusting gestures," the woman told police.
Gonzalez, 55, was charged with disorderly conduct, Hanania said. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 4 in Maywood.
