CALUMET CITY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

About 16 people were injured when a Pace bus and a car collided Monday in south suburban Calumet Park.

The Route 359 Robbins/South Kedzie Avenue bus was traveling north at South Throop Street and West 124th Street when the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m., Pace spokesman Patrick Wilmot said.

About 16 of the 36 bus passengers requested to be hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Wilmot said.

The bus and car sustained dents but were able to drive away from the scene, Wilmot said.

The Calumet Park Police and Fire departments were unavailable for comment.
