CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man tried bringing a loaded gun handgun with him on an airplane at O'Hare International Airport on Saturday, authorities claim.

Dean Bieker, 54, allegedly had a .25 caliber beretta handgun in his carry-on luggage when he tried boarding a plane at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

Screeners with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration saw the handgun when it went through an x-ray machine at a security checkpoint, Gaines said.

Bieker—of Olathe, Kansas—was arrested and charged with a felony count of trying to bring a loaded weapon on an aircraft, Gaines said.
