Man tried to kidnap 14-year-old girl in Washington Heights: Alert

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A man attempted to kidnap a 14-year-old girl Friday in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood.

The girl was walking east on 93rd Street from Halsted Street about 7:36 a.m. when a man grabbed her backpack from behind and pulled her towards him, according to an alert from Area South detectives.

She was able to free herself and run to school, where she informed school personnel, the alert said.

The suspect is described as black with a dark complexion, 40-50, 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds with short black and gray dreadlocks, the alert said.

He was wearing a small rounded black cap, long calf-length trench coat, black pants and black gym shoes with silver trim, the alert said.
