CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

October's murder rate in Chicago dropped to a level not seen since 1982.

It fell to 36 from the 44 murders seen for the same period a year ago.

But the number of murders this year in Chicago already has surpassed the number for all of last year.

Meanwhile, Chicago Police showed off drugs, money and guns taken in the latest strike against the Maniac Latin Disciples gang.

Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Thursday that they are getting closer to eradicating the gang.

2,500 members of the gang have been arrested.

Six gangbangers were arrested in this drug investigation.

Police say the drugs were being sold out of a fitness center on the Northwest Side.
