Following on the heels of other recent large-scale, dragon-themed productions (namely Cirque du Soleil's Dralion and Cirque Shanghai's Year of the Dragon), Ringling Bros. bring their daring feats to the Chicago area for a two-venue engagement. According to show myth, dragon tribes from different corners of the world convene to display their amazing aerial and fight skills complemented by virtues such as courage, strength, wisdom and heart. Registered bakers drop off their goodies at 10am and then passersby can have at them for $3 a slice. All proceeds go to Hyde Park & Kenwood Hunger Programs. William H. Ray Elementary School, 5631 S Kimbark Ave. 1–4pm; $3 per slice.

Lycée Français de Chicago's 8th Annual French Fall Market. Ambitious holiday shoppers can get an early start on purchasing gifts. Le marche boasts more than 100 merchants selling art, antiques, jewelry, clothing and more. Work those thigh muscles for a good cause at SkyRise Chicago. The fourth annual indoor stair-climbing event takes place at the Willis Tower. More than 1,000 climbers are slated to walk, sprint, jog or hand-cycle up 103 levels. Proceeds go to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Willis Tower, 233 S Wacker Dr. 7am–noon; $50
