Award-winning Chicago teacher convicted of 1976 molestation

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

An award-winning Chicago teacher is not being allowed any contact with students after the district learned that he was convicted of molesting a student in another district.

The Tribune reported that Foreman High School Dean of Students Harold "Jerry" Mash was found guilty of molesting a sophomore in Ohio back in 1976.

Mash was not required to tell the district at the time he was hired and background checks did not turn the case up.

Mash told the Tribune he has never abused any child.
