GRAYSLAKE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A 60-year-old social worker at a northwest suburban high school for special needs students rubbed the shoulders and squeezed the hip of a 19-year-old student, then rubbed up against her, police alleged in announcing his arrest Wednesday.
John Gulino of the 1700 block of Riverwood Drive in Algonquin was arrested by Lake County Sheriff's police Tuesday and charged with battery against a 19-year old student of the Cyd Lash Academy in unincorporated Grayslake, a release from the sheriff's office said.
The student told school officials Gulino rubbed her shoulders, grabbed and squeezed her hip, then rubbed his private parts against her body, according to police. It happened in a classroom during the school day.
The school administration immediately notified police after learning of the allegation on Oct. 18, a release from the sheriff's office said. Gulino was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
He was charged with three counts of battery, all Class A misdemeanors, and was released after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond, according to police.
Cyd Lash Academy is part of the Special Education District of Lake County, a cooperative system that works with 35 local school districts to serve physically, mentally and emotionally challenged students.
