A new campaign ad, paid for by "Citizens for Kalnicky," attacks state representative candidate Natalie Manley for a May 8th arrest.
"We will never forget how a local politician, Natalie Manley was arrested for physically beating her daughter," the ad begins.
Manley, a Joliet resident, was arrested in the early morning hours after her 21-year-old daughter showed up at the police station and said she had been punched and kicked by her mother. Joliet police said the daughter had facial injuries and was bruised.
"Manley was punching and kicking, knocking her daughter to the ground," the ad continues. "What does it say about a mother who would beat her daughter or about us, if we looked the other way?"
After the incident, Manley acknowledged a confrontation, but denied any physical contact with her daughter, police said. She told police that her daughter had come home drunk.
"I am embarrassed for my family and friends and ask that you all respect our need for privacy," Manley said in the statement. "No family is perfect, and many parents have had to learn how to love their kids while not enabling inappropriate behavior. I continue to thank you for your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time."
On March 20th, Manly ran unopposed in the Democratic Party for the 98th House, which stretches from Joliet to Bolingbrook. She is now set to face Republican challenger Bob Kalnicky in the November election, the campaign responsible for the recently released ad.
