Preckwinkle adjusts slot machine tax

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has changed part of her new budget proposal.

She announced Tuesday that she's tweaking the slot machine tax.

Under the new proposal, Preckwinkle says casino owners would pay a $1,000 tax for each slot machine.

And owners of machines in "mom and pop establishments" would pay $200 per machine instead of the initial proposal for all to pay $800 per machine.

A vote should come before Thanksgiving.
