Gas prices have jumped 20 to 25 cents a gallon in the past 24 hours at a number of stations around the Chicago area.
Even though most Chicago area gas comes from refineries in the Midwest, the shutdown of refineries along the East coast has pushed prices up in many parts of the country.
Prices should start to decline again in the next week to ten days if those refineries not damaged by the storm come back online soon.
