Harvey man sentenced to 3 years for placing baby in scalding water

CROWN POINT, Ind. (FOX 32 News) -
A south suburban man received three years in prison after an infant he was babysitting suffered severe burns when he placed the baby in a tub of extremely hot water.
Joshua Crayton, of the 15600 block of Myrtle Avenue in Harvey, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to neglect of a dependent, a felony, according to a release from the Lake County (Ind.) Prosecutor's office.
Crayton was babysitting at a home in Hammond, Ind., on Sept. 2, 2011, when he placed an infant in a bathtub containing very hot water, according to the release. The baby suffered burns.
