PAC that had backed Walsh moving cash elsewhere

CHICAGO (Associated Press) -

A super PAC that had put nearly $2 million into the campaign of tea party-backed U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh has decided to invest its money in other races.

The Republican from Chicago's northern suburbs has struggled against his well-financed Democratic opponent, Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq war veteran.

The Now or Never super PAC says it isn't "running from a fight" and decided to move its money after concluding Walsh is on a winning trajectory.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the group had planned to spend an additional $2.5 million on Walsh.

Walsh spokesman Justin Roth said Saturday the campaign has no control over where a super PAC spends its money but that he agrees with the assessment that the congressman is on his way to victory.
