Man tried to abduct 14-year-old girl in Lawndale: Alert

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A community alert has been issued in the Lawndale neighborhood after a man tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl Tuesday morning.
About 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 14-year-old girl was walking in the 1500 block of South St. Louis Avenue when a man approached the girl and attempted to have her come near his truck, according to an alert from Area Central detectives. He was driving a white, older model Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The man was described as a 35-to-45-year-old African American man with a beard and a mustache. He was wearing a Com-Ed cap, the alert said.
