CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Whether you like Halloween classy or creepy, it doesn't matter - Time Out Chicago editor Kevin Aeh has you covered.
Enjoy your weekend in style with wine tasting or at a men's shopping market. If you want to party, look no further than the 70's-themed party at Saki. Hoping for something that is more authentic to Halloween? Join the crowd for a magic show set in a haunted mansion.
Hallowine tasting Halloween isn't usually this classy, but the Irish American Heritage Center is trying to make it so with its first Hallowine Tasting. Munch on cheese and crackers and sample five fall wines courtesy of Winebrow. Get $5 off if you come in costume. Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N Knox Ave (773-282-7035, irish-american.org) 7-9pm; $15, if you wear a costume $10
1970Boo! Blaxploitation flicks and experimental German rock have a couple of things in common: One, they were both popular in the '70s. Two, they're both highlights at the 1972-themed party. Watch vintage VHS clips of Super Fly and groove to Big Colour as it covers songs from krautrock band Can's Ege Bamyasi album. Saki, 3716 W Fullerton Ave (773-486-3997, sakistore.net) 8pm.
Halloween Magic 2 The seeting for this year's Halloween Magic 2 is a season staple-a creepy haunted mansion. But what makes this stage show stand out, apart from the fact that it happens only once a year, is the show's use of magic, illusions and philanthropy (all proceeds go to military families). Last year, there was even a real zebra thrown into the mix. Akoo Theatre at Rosemont, 5400 N River Rd, Rosemont (847-671-5100, rosemonttheatre.com) 3pm; $30-$90
NorthernGrade men's shopping market We're starting to see shopping markets become more specialized as the genre gains popularity. For instance, this Chicago pop-up of the popular Minneapolis-based market is dedicated to premium USA-made menswear. Sponsored by Penelope's and Haberdash, NorthernGrade features items from Red Wing Heritage, Field Notes, Winter Session, Tellason and more. Since this is a shopping event for the fellas, expect beer. Lots of it. Open Secret Studios, 401 N Racine Ave (northerngrade.virb.com). Sat 27, 10am–6:30pm.
