A dog attacked by a coyote in the yard of a west suburban home on Tuesday night is expected to recover, police say.
The reported coyote attack occurred at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Brighton Drive in Wheaton, according to Wheaton police. The homeowner said a coyote jumped over a fence, which is about 6 feet tall, and grabbed the homeowner's dog.
The owner started yelling and running toward the coyote, which dropped the dog and jumped back over the fence. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian, who told its owner that the dog should recover.
Wheaton police did not known what type of dog was attacked.
