Ald. Reilly (42nd) suggests off-duty cops provide extra security for pay

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A downtown Chicago alderman thinks that off-duty cops could provide extra security on the Magnificent Mile.

Alderman Brendan Reilly (42nd) said business-owners have expressed interest in hiring the cops for extra patrols.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy testified in front of the City Council Budget Committee Wednesday. He mentioned that New York City has a similar program for Yankees games.
