ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Following a four-month investigation involving three suburban police agencies, a 51-year-old west suburban man was arrested this week and charged with multiple counts of child pornography and drug possession.
Gary L. Harris of the 1800 block of Howard Street in St. Charles was taken into custody on Monday, according to St. Charles police.
Naperville and Downers Grove police began investigating the sharing of child pornography on a file-sharing network, a release from St. Charles police said. During the investigation, they determined the sharing involved a St. Charles resident and provided an IP address and DVD to St. Charles investigators.
A search warrant was obtained and on Sept. 2, the warrant was executed at Harris' home by St. Charles police, the release said. Computer equipment and DVDs were seized and green leafy, substance and white powder were also taken.
Some of the many DVDs were determined to be child pornography; the green leafy substance was cannabis; and the powder tested positive for cocaine, police said.
An arrest warrant with a $100,000 bond was issued and Harris turned himself in on Monday afternoon. He was charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, and four counts aggravated child pornography, according to police.
He was released on $10,000 bail. His next court date is set for Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. in St.Charles.
