Teen shot multiple times near Auburn Gresham park

CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE: A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting at a park in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood late Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened about 11:55 a.m. in the 8000 block of South Hoyne Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The victim was either at or near a basketball court when a dark-colored SUV drove by and someone inside opened fire, striking him multiple times in the leg, arm, wrist and foot, Perez said. The SUV then drove north on Damen Avenue.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stable, according to police.

Dawes Park is located at 80th and Hoyne, where the shooting occurred.

Area South detectives are investigating.
