South Side crash injured 6, including 2 toddlers

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Six people — including two toddlers — were injured in a traffic crash on the South Side Wednesday morning.

An EMS Plan I response, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was called for the crash at 43rd Street and Michigan Avenue about 10:50 a.m.

Five of the six injured were in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs. The crash involved a minivan and a two-door "vintage" Pontiac Trans Am, according to Fire Media.

Two toddlers were taken in serious to critical condition to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago Medical Center; two people were taken in serious to critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County; one person was taken in serious to critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital; and one person was taken in fair to serious condition to Mercy Hospital, according to Fire Media.

The ages of the toddlers were not provided. The EMS plan was secured at about 11:20 a.m.
