Man dies after being pulled out of Lake Michigan

A man died Tuesday after he was pulled from Lake Michigan near Grant Park.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was pulled from the water near Jackson and Lake Shore drives, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit responded about 3:20 p.m. to the lake on reports that a person was in the water, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

Police and fire crews pulled him from the lake and took him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, authorities said.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4:14 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The man has not yet been identified but appears to be in his 40s.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
