CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Mormon Church plans to build its first house of worship in downtown Chicago.

It's part of a larger push into major cities across the county where membership is on the rise.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints plans to spend more than $10 million to build a six-story, 39,000-square-foot building in the River North neighborhood.

The site is located at 816 N. Clark Street.

In addition to the proposed River North development, the church also has locations in Logan Square, the Near West Side, the South Side, and several in the suburbs.
