CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police are investigating the shooting of four men Monday night on the West Side.

Police say three men approached the victims on foot just before 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of South Lavergne Avenue in the city's West Side Austin neighborhood.

All four people were initially taken to area hospitals in serious-to-critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.

As of late Monday, a 25-year-old man shot in the right shoulder remains in serious condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, but the conditions of the other three men have stabilized, police said.

A 48-year-old man shot in the buttocks was also taken to Stroger, police said. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man shot in the buttocks, foot and ankle as well as a 19-year-old man shot in the thigh remain at Mount Sinai Hospital.

A motive for the attack was not yet clear, and no suspects are in custody.

Area North detectives are investigating.
