DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) - She's creative, fun-loving and looking for a place to call home.
Art is the favorite activity for 16-year-old Sonia, whose recent trip to Greenfield Village let the teen express her creative side. "I like doing scrapbooking," say Sonia. "Scrapbooking I did when I was in fifth grade. It was really amazing."
From scrapbooking to chalk-drawing, and everything in between, Sonia has a passion for staying active. "She's interested in participating in soccer, cheerleading," says adoption specialist Kate Pogany. "She has a lot of different interests."
"I'm kind of a girly girl and a tomboy," says Sonia.
As a teenager who started a new school, Sonia is really coming into her own. "I don't need to be fake, and I need to just be myself, and myself is me being awesome."
And what's really awesome? Her independent spirit and confidence in herself. "If I'm goofy and kids see me as that way, who cares? It's just being myself, and that's how I am," says Sonia.
She hopes to be part of an on-the-go family who spends time being active together.
"Sonia would do well with an active family who will include her in activities," says Pogany. "She very much wants to be loved, and unconditionally respected by a family."
Sonia's put a lot of thought into what she can bring to her forever home. "Having them know I'll be independent," says Sonia. "I can take care of things well. And also be a daughter to them. A responsible, and a daughter to them, a respectful daughter."
