A reputed gang member was ordered held without bond Friday after being charged with chasing a man down a street and fatally shooting him in South Side alley more than two years ago.
Alleged Gangster Disciple Fountain King exited a car about 9 p.m. on July 5, 2010, and approached 18-year-old Shaundee Nance in the 7000 block of South Hermitage Avenue, according to court documents.
King, wearing a white T-shirt over his face, pulled out a gun with an extended clip and chased Nance down the street into a gangway, where he knocked Nance down, then shot him in the abdomen area and arm, court documents said.
King's mask fell below his face as he chased Nance and his shirt was torn off during the struggle, according to court documents. King fled east and tossed the murder weapon and T-shirt about a block away. Surveillance video from a nearby business shoeed King fleeing.
Nance walked back to the sidewalk, where neighbors stayed with him until paramedics took him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, court documents said. An autopsy determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide.
After the shooting, King met several people and told them he had chased Nance and shot him twice, according to court documents. He also told the group how he disposed of the murder weapon.
Police recovered five shell casings at the scene and a piece of King's torn shirt, according to court documents. The murder weapon, T-shirt and other clothing were also recovered. Forensic tests on the clothing found Nance's blood and King's DNA.
Smith was charged with murder and ordered held without bond.
