CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

First Lady Michelle Obama and former president Bill Clinton hit the campaign trail in Wisconsin Friday to encourage early voting in Green Bay, Racine and Wausau.

Early voting begins Monday in Wisconsin. Both presidential campaigns want to lock in votes as soon as possible.

Cook County Clerk David Orr said requests for mail ballots in Illinois suburbs are up to almost 26,000, close to as many as in the 2008 election. He said the convenience of voting from home is a huge factor, and more than 2,000 of those ballots have already been returned.

Republicans also campaigned in Illinois' northern neighbor. Sen. Ron Johnson, former U.S. Rep. Mark Green and national committee chairman Reince Priebus took a bus tour, talking with voters along the way.
