WIXOM, Mich. -- Wixom police say someone randomly fired shots at vehicles traveling northbound on Wixom Road Thursday afternoon between 2:00 and 2:15 p.m. We're told five vehicles were struck. No injuries were reported.
Earlier this week, FOX 2's Alexis Wiley reported on two apparently random drive-by shootings that occurred Tuesday night in Wixom. We're told one took place on Loon Lake Road where a man taking out his garbage reported hearing gunshots.
"He said that he thought that or had the sensation that bullets flew past the top of his head," Wixom Public Safety Director Clarence Goodlein explained.
Someone is said to have shot at a car in the other incident on Wixom Road south of Charms.
"The bullet had actually entered the tire and gone through and caused a hole in the rim," Goodlein said.
A suspect vehicle in Tuesday's shootings was described as a dark colored sports car with aftermarket blue tinted headlamp covers, possible a Ford Mustang. There is no word yet whether that same vehicle is thought to be involved in Thursday's incidents.
"We certainly want to put a stop to it. We certainly want to make the people who are responsible liable for what they did, and the only way we can put an end to this quickly is for people to help us and tell us what they know," said Goodlein.
Anyone with information on these shootings should call Wixom Police.
Walled Lake Consolidated Schools also issued the following statement Thursday.
"As you may know, there have been some random shootings in the Wixom area and there was another one late today. We are in constant communication with several law enforcement departments regarding these incidents. Although they do not believe that there is imminent danger, as a precaution there will be a police presence at Wixom Elementary, Sarah Banks Middle School, and Western High School in the morning. There is no reason to believe that anyone is in any danger, but we will err on the side of caution. We are fortunate for the collaborative relationships we have with the local police officials and we will continue to take direction and recommendations from them seriously. Safety of our students and entire school community is a priority in Walled Lake Schools."
